The Irish Postcard really kicks off when the west is reached. Battered and weathered by the warm chill of the Atlantic, arguably the most underrated links on the planet will be found here. From Carne Golf Club on the mullet peninsula to the championship links at Lahinch, the west harbours some of our finest links.

But the golf is only half the story of the beautiful west. The counties of Sligo, Mayo, Galway offer some of the finest places to visit on the entire island. The inland lakes of Lough Conn and Lough Corrib and the mighty Connemara. All need to be seen to be believed. The river Moy in Ballina boasts one of the hotspots for wild Salmon fishing in the entire country.

Don’t underestimate the night life out here either. Who doesn’t want to spend a summer evening at a session in the west of Ireland? It does not get dark until almost midnight in high summer, and the nights are short and eventful. There is plenty of “Craic and Ceoil” to be had when travelling the west. Not to be missed.

Happy Caddy will guide you through the heart of Connacht and the wild Atlantic way.
